Meng Liu joined the IDE as a post-doctoral associate in September 2015, after receiving her Ph.D. in economics in May 2015 from Clemson University, South Carolina.
Her research has been primarily on auctions and mechanism design, specifically in the contexts of government procurement contracts. She has been curious and interested in various innovative government buying schemes that address concerns beyond costs, and as a trained economist, she tries to answer the efficiency and effectiveness problems associated with these novel designs. Besides contractual designs, Meng is also fascinated by the emerging sharing economy of the digital era. Particularly, she has been doing work on the impacts of Uber on the traditional Taxi industry on many fronts.
